Chickens for Sale
We're sold out of chicks right now and won't be hatching again until
spring. In the spring we'll have Astralorps, Spangled Russian Orloffs,
and Gold Laced Cochin chicks for sale. Chicks are $2.50 each at
hatching.
We can deliver chicks to the Tulsa area most weekdays and sometimes
on saturday or sunday. We can deliver to Prague or Stroud almost any
time. We don't however ship chicks. We just live too far from the
bigger cities to make it practical for us.

Our chicks are brooded in the house for the first few days so that we
can be sure that they are eating and drinking well. Then they are
moved to an outside brooder where they can be under a heat lamp all
the time.
After they are about 2 months old they are moved to a large unheated
12x12 grow house where they run free together learning to scratch
and be chickens. At 3 months, when they are big enough for the
chicken hawks to leave them alone, they are turned out with the rest
of the flock to free range.
When we are ready to gather hatching eggs from any of our purebred
birds the hens are put into one of our breeding pens with the rooster
of their breed for 3 weeks before the eggs are collected for hatching
so that we'll know the chicks are purebred chicks of that breed.
We've found that this gives us very healthy hatching eggs and chicks
because being able to free range keeps our hens so healthy and
healthy hens lay healthy eggs!
